A smart blonde, 2024

Acrylic and oil on canvas, 70cm x 60cm

A product of an investigation into humour and how frequently we turn jokes on ourselves as a form of self defence. This piece also explores who is ‘allowed’ to be offended by particular jokes and what jokes are therefore socially acceptable. Another conclusion from this project that generally, what we’re not supposed to laugh at, will always be the funniest whether we admit it to ourselves or not.
